The 60-30-10 technique
This rule will allow us to create a balance of color in the room that we are going to decorate. First, it is necessary that we choose the colors that we want to use. For this we can use color palettes.
A very useful tool is Adobe Color, which we talked about in a previous post. This program will allow us to create multiple combinations. So let’s choose the one we like the most, taking into account the effect of color on the mood.
Once the palette is chosen, we are going to try to use the 60 – 30 – 10 rule. The numbers represent the percentages in which we are going to use each color, in such a way that 60% will represent the dominant tone of the room. It is the most important color and the one that will convey the most emotions, so it is essential to choose it well. It is advisable to choose a neutral or light tone.
30% is represented by another color, which will provide contrast with the first. For example we can use it on a wall and on a carpet.
10% is the color of the small details and will complement the other two. Cushions, paintings …
Techniques for small stays
If the room is small, there are techniques that we can use to save space: use translucent panels, curtains as dividers, sliding doors, mirrors, close terraces, pull partitions, have shelves from floor to ceiling, paint the rooms with light colors, use the hole under the stairs, have a shower instead bathtub … and a long etcetera.
In addition, there are many techniques applied to the spaces you want to decorate: shop windows, shops, lofts …
