In a previous article, we told you about meteorites and the popular idea that a huge meteorite caused the disappearance of dinosaurs. As it is the subject of this article, it is time to lift the veil on what eradicated the dinosaurs from our planet. And guess what? It’s not the meteorites… at least, not directly.
A recent article in Nature Communications revealed the real reasons which caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. The latter would have occurred because of two episodes of global warming.

Global warming killed the dinosaurs?
The first episode of global warming was triggered by violent volcanic eruptions in the Deccan region of India. The second global warming occurred after the Chicxulub meteorite fell over Mexico. These two tragic events caused monstrous greenhouse gas emissions.
So these global warming caused theextinction of most fat dinosaur species. Except, of those who knew how to fly since they are the ancestors of the birds that we see today.
Global warming has greatly benefited mammals
Moreover, theextinction of dinosaurs benefited the first mammals. Indeed, the latter evolved much more quickly after the disappearance of the reptiles. In terms of numbers, mammals are said to have diversified three times faster in the ten million years after the dinosaurs died out than in the previous 80 million years.
This suggests that the survival of mammals was in great question before these natural disasters. Since dinosaurs took up all the space. But global warming has changed the situation and reversed the situation. Now, mammals take up the majority of space on Earth, unlike the true descendants of dinosaurs: birds.
There you have it, now you know the real reasons that caused the loss of these large reptiles from our planet. 😎
