Shanghai-based design studio JWDK designed a series of posters that aim to contribute to the fight against Coronavirus or also known as COVID-19.
Each poster communicates tips for maintaining good hygiene in and around the work area. In addition to trying to encourage the population, to stay strong and clean.
«Take care of yourself so you can take care of others». “Control virus prevention.” «Your hands are your first line of defense». «Make it a team effort». These are the 4 phrases that you can read in the different poster designs.
The design of this series of posters pays tribute to the ancient posters that were used by China’s public health in 1950 to communicate messages to citizens.
This new version of posters are currently functional, since the recommendations and messages they contain are formulated by the Chinese government and the World Health Organization (WHO)
Posters to contribute to the fight against Coronavirus
Something interesting that I learned from writing this article and seeing the posters is that the name given to this COVID-19 virus is the acronym for the words: Coronavirus Disease. Number 19 is the year the virus first appeared: 2019.
All four posters have a different message along with various illustrations. The first calls for a team effort and shows that every little action helps in the fight against COVID-19.
The second poster calls for managing virus protection and highlights key touch points, which can harbor germs. For example tubes of the subway or public transport, or door handles, etc.
The design of the third poster says about taking care of yourself so that you can take care of others. And it shows the tools you can use to protect yourself from infection.
Finally the fourth poster shows correct techniques to wash your hands and how often you should do it.
They are posters that can function as an object of decoration, but are also important for the type of message they convey. If you follow the instructions you may help fight the virus.
