3 illustration trends and prints you should know
3 illustrative trends …
Hello friends! I am Fran Alma, designer and illustrator of patterns and today I bring you a super useful article for all the designers, illustrators and community of Crehana. Have you wondered how it is that a theme becomes a trend? And above all, why should that matter to us?
Exploring trends today is essential for any designer. Being up to date with what is happening in the world can help us a lot when creating graphic marketable pieces, either for our own business or to deal with international clients! The trends are valuable, have a lot to do with culture and are influenced by both political, economic and social events, which have a direct impact on consumer awareness.
As for the design of prints, it can be something very entertaining! That is why today I want to talk about 3 spring-summer trends that will be marking the design of patterns and prints by 2020. Take note, because these trends can be defining to create your own designs or just be fashionable!
Table of Contents
1.SAFARI
This trend has everything to do with adventure! The elements that compose it are saturated colors, predominantly green, brown and yellow, since in the African jungle we can see the predominance of these colors. Within this theme we will also find: Jungle scenes, animals like tigers, snakes and elephants with their textures. Fruits and vegetables of all colors, desert, plants, flowers and leaves of strong and opaque colors in contrast to green and mustard.
Do you venture? Here I leave you a moodboard of references of some artists that I have created about this trend, along with the color palette so that you can guide yourself when it comes to illustrating.
2.INTENSITY
This is all about strength, brightness and contrasts. The elements are vivid, contracting and a very intense floral fantasy predominates. The strokes and contours are solid and thick, and the color gamut of this trend is quite wide, solid and vibrant. We can see depth in the compositions. Also many shapes and drawings with a style both digital and handmade. The delineation of the drawings quite intense. The flowers are usually exaggerated and sometimes more abstract.
Express yourself!
3.ORIENT EXPRESS
Spring summer 2020 is heading east. This trend is rightly related to the oriental culture, where delicacy predominates, but also the mythical culture. When we talk about this trend our mind immediately goes to Japan and China. The elements that compose it are delicate flowers, sakura blossom, peonies, orchids and other flowers in a very stylized and elegant way. We can also find animals … but not just any animal! we see Fire dragons and exotic and fanciful birds. In addition to this, we can see other elements of their culture, buildings, masks, trees and landscapes
Let’s travel east?
