Yesterday (July 30) NASA launched the Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral, which carries the rover Perseverance towards Mars. The rover is accompanied by the Ingenuity drone, its objective is to explore the Jezero crater from February 18, 2021. Perseverance will take samples of the soil of Mars, which will be brought to Earth, another mission will be in charge of that work.
What caught my attention about the mission was the design of your logo, I loved the design. It’s minimalist and inspired by the shape of the Perseverance rover. By the way, if you want the Mars 2020 Perseverance logo, in vectors, you can download it here.
The agency in charge of designing the logo for the mission is House of van Schneider. NASA asked them to design a symbol that captures the energy and legacy of space travel, while acknowledging the work of the engineers who were part of the mission.
For the 2020 launch of the Mars Rover, NASA asked House of van Schneider to design: ‘a symbol that captured the energy and legacy of space travel, while celebrating the engineers who worked tirelessly on this mission».
NASA’s Perseverance rover mission logo
The logo of the mission to Mars is made up of 4 graphic elements. The first is a red circle, it represents the planet Mars. The second element is the Perseverance rover symbol. A star is the third element of the logo, that star represents the planet Earth, but seen from Mars. The last element is the text: “MARS 2020”.
There are a couple of versions of the logo that work perfectly and are used for different purposes. One of the versions of the logo uses only the red circle with Perseverance and planet Earth.
Another version uses the logo together with the text «MARS 2020“That was the one that was placed on the Atlas V rocket. The font used for the text is the same font with which the new NASA logo is designed.
This is a logo that I really liked, because it is simple and because it synthesizes all the elements of the mission. This logo design is shaping up to be among the best logos to be featured in 2020.
Did you like the logo or would you change or modify some of the design?
