ATM PIZZA or After Hours Pizza is a pizzeria located in Monterrey, Nuevo León. And whose characteristic that makes it unique is that it opens all night and makes deliveries every day, until 6 in the morning.
Another characteristic that makes this business so unique is the visual identity, which is inspired by the graphics seen in the movies of the eighties.
The objective of the visual identity was to use retro graphics, but it had to be given a modern touch, so that current customers of the pizzeria could feel identified. Because it is very likely that the main customers of ATM PIZZA were young people who were born in the two thousand years, therefore they did not live the era of the eighties.
The result was a very original visual identity, ideal for the type of product. The pizza boxes are black and white, with contrasting color graphics to highlight the company name.
Visual identity for a Mexican pizzeria
When I saw the photos of this visual identity, I thought it was a student project. But when I went to the ATM PIZZA page, I got a couple of surprises.
First the business does exist –by the way it has a cool domain name– and second is a Mexican pizzeria. If I lived in Monterrey, I would spend my time ordering pizzas from that business. Just for the good design and if the pizzas taste good it would be a welcome extra.
The design studio in charge of making this visual identity for ATM PIZZA was Shift -. It is a design studio located in the city of Monterrey. The identity design is new, it was delivered in March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic.
The visual identity of ATM PIZZA is made up of: logo design, pizza box design, sauce jars, glasses, posters and advertising.
What I did not understand about the visual identity was the bills painted with the name of the company. I guess they gave away those tickets or the pizzeria gave them in exchange, when you paid for a pizza.
But overall I liked each of the visual identity designs. I am a huge fan of well used retro graphics.
What do you think of this visual identity, did you like it or would you change something to the design?
