As a good Batman fan I am one of those who believe that the best Batman was from the animated series, which was broadcast on television in the nineties. This series was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm.
I like everything about that cartoon; the character design, the Gotham setting, the architectural elements inspired by the Bruce Timm of the 1930s. I even think that the best design in the history of the Batmobile is the one used in this animated series.
All those graphic elements were the inspiration used by the illustrator Chris Thornley, to create a series of printed works that had to be exhibited in a gallery. But everything was postponed due to the arrival of the Covid.
Bottleneck Gallery Y DC Comic They were in charge of asking Chris Thornley, who will make this series of illustrations. That in addition to being exposed, they would also be sold as limited edition pieces for the very fans of Batman.
Artwork inspired by the Batman animated series
Chris Thornley is an illustrator who has worked for very important clients. He made art for video games like; Halo Y Farcry. He also makes illustrations that are used as book covers, he also makes illustrations for movie posters.
But to me as a good Batman fan, what caught my attention just when I entered Chris Thornley’s web portfolio, were all batman illustrations.
I liked them all, I want poster-size prints to look at every time I come into my office to work.
Hard copies can be purchased, but not at this time. You have to subscribe to the Chris Thornley store newsletter, by that means you will be notified when they are available. I guess they are waiting for the pandemic to end, to make the exhibition and at the end, sell all the pieces.
For now, you can enter the account that Chris Thornley has on Behance, so that you can appreciate in high resolution, each of the illustrations inspired by the Batman animated series.
Then you come back and tell me which was your favorite illustration, as I said before, I like all of them, but if I had to keep one, I would choose the one that you can see the silhouette of Batman and the buildings of Gotham City in the background.
